My name is Jessica Killeen and I’m the Voter Protection Director for this year’s Coordinated Campaign. After the past year, I think we can all agree the only constant is change. We’ve seen our world turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic and massive and necessary civil rights reforms. One of those critical changes was access to voting in the Commonwealth. Thanks to the hard work of Virginia Democrats like the Governor, members of the General Assembly, and voters like you, it has never been easier to cast a ballot in Virginia.

After Virginia Democrats took control of the General…

Every April, the Democratic Party of Virginia hosts a two-part event honoring the life and legacy of Barbara Johns — a free panel that is open to the public, and a fundraiser reception to close out the night. Funds raised at the reception help to fund the Democratic Party of Virginia’s efforts to elect Democrats around the commonwealth — Democrats who pass legislation protecting the right to vote and pass the most comprehensive anti-discrimination laws in the south.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were forced to move this year’s event from its usual place on the calendar to August…

DPVA HQ has been hard at work integrating with our Statewide campaigns, holding successful trainings, and planning a host of events all across the commonwealth.

Team Political has been attending committee meetings, planning campaign rallies, and are working to provide guidance and support for every candidate running for the House of Delegates, from the 1st District to the 100th — Shyam & Jack are putting the legwork in now so that we have a fantastic election day in November.

The Communications & Digital teams began coordinating with campaigns to ensure a consistent and winning message. Comms has been putting out press releases every day about the work we’re doing to keep our majority and keep hold of our statewide offices — and laying out clearly…

A note from the Chairwoman, Virginia Democrats unify post-primary, & the 2021 Blue Commonwealth Gala was announced!

A note from the Chairwoman

Tuesday’s primary showcased the best of the Democratic Party of Virginia. Across the commonwealth, Democrats blew past all expectations and turned out in large numbers to nominate talented candidates with the experience needed to keep moving Virginia forward.

Up and down the ballot Democrats are ready to fight for affordable healthcare, better schools for our children, a strong post-COVID recovery, new ways to fight climate change, and much more. I couldn’t be prouder of our candidates and the campaigns they ran.

Democrats are united and fired up to win in November. Not only are Terry McAuliffe, Hala Ayala, and Mark…

The “Where Trump leads, Glenn follows” tour kicks off, A note from the Voter Protection Director, VADEMS holds trainings, & the staff takes a trip through Southwest Virginia.

A note from Ja’Scotta Jefferson, VADEMS Voter Protection Director

Virginia voters now have multiple voting options: absentee in-person voting for 45 days, otherwise known as early voting, in-person voting on Election Day, or vote by mail. At DPVA we take a year-round approach to ensure that every eligible Virginian is able to cast their ballot. We strategically staff the polls with observers, operate the Virginia Voter Hotline to educate and answer voters’ questions, and lastly enforce election laws to benefit VA voters. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our Democratic majority and Voter Protection Team, access to the ballot has been expanded. …

By DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker

The passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a tragic loss to all of us who, regardless of political party affiliation, believe in fairness and equal justice, and to women everywhere who were inspired by her life and her work. Now that we’ve had some time to mourn, I have to put my DPVA Chair hat back on and absorb what her passing means for our political future. I can sum it up in three words: elections have consequences.

We’ve been saying it for years, and the campaigns we’ve had since 2016 in…
