A note from the Chairwoman, Virginia Democrats unify post-primary, & the 2021 Blue Commonwealth Gala was announced!
A note from the Chairwoman
Tuesday’s primary showcased the best of the Democratic Party of Virginia. Across the commonwealth, Democrats blew past all expectations and turned out in large numbers to nominate talented candidates with the experience needed to keep moving Virginia forward.
Up and down the ballot Democrats are ready to fight for affordable healthcare, better schools for our children, a strong post-COVID recovery, new ways to fight climate change, and much more. I couldn’t be prouder of our candidates and the campaigns they ran.
Democrats are united and fired up to win in November. Not only are Terry McAuliffe, Hala Ayala, and Mark Herring ready to run exciting campaigns to turn out voters across the commonwealth, their former opponents are jumping into the trenches alongside them to help us win. We’re going to need record turnout to keep Virginia blue, and we can only do that by working together as a team. I’m excited to see Democrats ready to hit the ground running as the general election begins.
A unified Democratic Party is how we’ve become a Blue Commonwealth, it’s how we beat back Donald Trump at every opportunity, it’s how we took the majority, and it’s how we win again this November.
I want to offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone who ran this year, to everyone who worked on those campaigns, and to all of the voters who turned out to have their voices heard. You all make Virginia a model for the rest of the country, and I’m so proud to have you on our team.
Democrats rally behind McAuliffe, Ayala, Herring ticket; ready to defeat Glenn “Trumpkin”
Over the last week, Democrats from the White House to the State House have rallied behind our statewide candidates — Jay Jones voiced his support for the McAuliffe, Ayala, Herring ticket, Jennifer McClellan and Jennifer Carroll Foy announced campaign stops with Gov. McAuliffe, and national partners are reaching out to the campaigns and the DPVA to offer support and begin coordination for the general election.
Virginia Democrats know the only way we beat Glenn Youngkin in November is working together — we’re thrilled to see the outpouring of support for our nominees — both from the voters at the ballot box and by other elected officials.
